The Festival of Avignon is an annual festival which takes place every summer in July in La Cour d’Honneur (the honorable court) of the Palais des Papes, in various theatres and other venues in the historical centre of Avignon, as well as just about everywhere in the town’s streets. The artists get everyone involved, they liven up the streets, and appear in the most unexpected places. Because of the number of participants and spectators it is unmistakably the most important theatrical art and live performance event in France.
